Basmati Rice For Chicken Breyani Recipe

When cooking Basmati rice for chicken breyani, the water you add should not exceed a cup per cup of cooked rice. You can test by adding a small amount of water to a freshly soaked bag of rice. The water content should be enough to cover the rice, but you may need to add a bit more if the basmati rice is too wet. Make sure to rinse the rice thoroughly and drain well since it can be quite soggy if you use too much marinade.

To cook basmati rice over the stove, you will need a large pot or dutch oven; 5-6 quarts are ideal. Avoid deep pots or pans with high sides. Place the pot or dutch oven over a flat grill to prevent it from sticking to the pan or burning. There are many different brands of basmati rice on the market. You can find a wide selection at Indian grocery stores and online.

Next, prepare the spices that will flavor your chicken. Turmeric powder, nutmeg, cumin, green cardamom, and salt are great for marinating chicken. You can also add some yogurt for an added kick. Once the chicken fry, remove it from the oil with a slotted spoon and serve with ketchup or any dip of your choice. The buttermilk sauce can be prepared with a mixture of lime juice, vinegar, and 2 cups of milk. If using a homemade version, it is best to remove the skin from the chicken. If freezing your chicken, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Pre-cooked Rice

One of the simplest ways to make a chicken breyani dish is to use pre-cooked rice. The rice should cook according to the recipe instructions. You can add salt and spices to the water before adding them to the rice. Stir the rice frequently to prevent it from sticking. Cook the rice until it is about half did, which takes about three minutes. Pour saffron milk or water over the rice to enhance its flavor. Once it is done, serve it hot or cold.

For cooking the rice, use a medium pan over high heat and add about 7 cups of water. Add the rice. Mix well and cook for a few minutes without covering the pan. Check the rice periodically to make sure that it is at least 75% cooked, but not mushy. If it isn’t, add another cup of water. When the rice is okay, drain it completely and spread it out on a large plate.
